3 days Gorilla trekking in Uganda

Bwindi National Park at the edge of Western Rift Valley situated in South Western Uganda is an impenetrable forest where Mountain gorillas in Uganda are tracked.  Bwindi Forest Park is home to over half of the world’s remaining Mountain Gorillas. More than 300 gorillas are found in Bwindi National Park grouped in families.

Gorilla famillies in Bwindi national park are;

1 Mubare Gorilla Family -5 members including 1 silverback ,

2 Habinyanja Gorilla Family - 15 members including 2 silverbacks

3 Rushegura Gorilla Family - 19 members including 1 silverback ,

4 Bitukura Gorilla Family - 12 members including 4 silverbacks ,

5 Nkuringo Gorilla Family - 19 members including 2 silverbacks ,

6 Nshongi Gorilla Family - 25 members including 4 silverbacks ,

7 Mishaya Gorilla Family - 12 members including 1 silverback ,

8 Oruzogo Gorilla Family - 16 members including 1 silverback ,

9 Kahungye Gorilla Family - 19 members including 3 silverback.

This park is mostly known for gorilla tracking and a home for 346 bird species and over 200 butterflies of different types with 324 tree species of which 10 of these are found no where in Uganda and some are of medicinal help.

“Bwindi” is a local word meaning darkness. To hike this impenetrable forest, you need some degree of fitness as you trek the steep slopes of the forest for gorillaz, explore the thrilling moment of spending your life with these amazing Apes, it is an adventurous experience that you need not to miss .

The Gorilla Nature Safari is a highlight of most tourists to Uganda among other destinations.

Day One: Travel to Bwindi National Park(L,D)

Depart Kampala early morning for your gorilla safari at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Park. You will stop along the way for your lunch and at the Equator for some photographs and informative talk. The journey to Bwindi from Kampala is very scenic, you will have a lot to spot and feel free to stop your safari vehicle at any place, any time for your Uganda photographic safaris.

You will reach at your Bwindi Lodging late afternoon and you will be spending a night next to the home of Mountain gorillas in Uganda. Dinner and Overnight at your hotel.

Day Two: Gorilla Nature Safari(B,L,D)

Wake up relatively early for your breakfast, and then after assemble at the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park headquarters for your briefing and formal welcome by the Gorilla Park rangers who will lead escort you for your gorilla trek.Thereafter, trek off into the jungle for your mist experience. Tracking mountain gorillas through this magnificent and mysterious thick gorilla forest where there is a lot to spot out as you search for Mountain Gorillas.  The fauna and flora, bird species, mammals, butterflies, primates will be most beautiful and only enhance this very special day. You have the  chance to meet the Gentle Giants face to face, talking to them, observing them just a few meters from your group, take some photos  of mothers feeding their  babies, the gorillas doing their daily routine and you are there.  You will never see the mountain gorillas in any zoo, it’s only the Chimpanzees which are kept in the Zoo. After meeting the Gentle Giants , return  to the Bwindi headquarters.  Depending on your energy level, you may opt to go for a village walk. While on the walk, you will see and explorer traditional ways including   brewing of local beer from remedies made from the forest and Bananas.  There will be some traditional dancing and entertainment you may even take part in the dancing as you observe the ways of the local people and how they survive and it is worth your while to take the community tour. Dinner and Overnight at your Hotel.

 Day Three:  Travel back to Kampala(B,L)

After breakfast, check out and start your journey back to Kampala with a stop at Mbarara town for lunch, then on to the Equator for crafts, picture taking and a formative talk and continue our drive to Kampala reaching in the evening.
